What is AARP Games?

AARP Games, Inc. is a division of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Our mission is to provide helpful information to all Americans, especially the millions of individuals who are 50 years of age or older, about health, education, and travel and other important issues they need to know. AARP Games was created by AARP in 1998 to connect people of all ages with fun, online games to which they could play and share their best experiences with family, friends and the larger community. In October 2016, a second division of AARP Games, AARP Get Games, was created to expand the benefits of free games for older adults, to make sure they are safe, trustworthy, fun and free of charge.

Why Do Seniors Play Games?

Everybody loves games. Not only are they fun, but they are a great way to occupy our minds when we don’t have anything else to do. But, why do adults of all ages play games?

There are a wide variety of reasons why seniors play games.

According to a Pew study, the typical age group that engages in board or card games is 45-50. That means that a lot of older adults engage in playing games when they are younger. Also, many people begin playing games at the suggestion of other people, usually their peers.

Another reason why seniors play games is that they are great exercise. The great thing about playing games is that you don’t even need to exercise to participate. Even a lot of sitting down and thinking about what you want to do is also great exercise.
